HYC Herentals |
HYC Herentals is an ice hockey team in Herentals, Belgium. They play in the North Sea Cup, the highest-level league in the Netherlands and Belgium. They also participate in the national cup and national championship tournaments of the Belgian Hockey League, the elite level of ice hockey in Belgium.
History
The club was founded in 1971, and won the first Belgian Cup in 1986. After three more cup victories, in 1989, 1991, and 1995, Herentals finally won their first of four Belgian Hockey League titles in 1997. They repeated their success in 1998, 2002, and 2009. In the 2008 season, they were defeated in the final, four games to two by the White Caps Turnhout.
